It's My Life

I was reading Julie's blog over at http://julieisa.blogspot.com/ and thought this was an awesome idea...she's calling it "It's my life" and every Tuesday she will post questions to answer about your life. And there will be a new theme every month. I love that she wants to make a book from her posts for her children one day. How sweet is that?!! So I thought I would play along for my daughter. It's also a creative way to get to know my fellow bloggers, and for you to learn more about me then you ever wanted to know lol! So here goes..

1. What was your mother's name? Dorothy Elizabeth
Your Father's name? Philip Don
Your grandmother's names? Dorothy Elizabeth & Opal
Your grandfather's names? Daniel and uh darn I can't remember how sad is that?!
What did you call them? Mom, Dad, Grandma & Grandpa.

2. Do you have brother's and sisters? Many...2 older brothers, 2 younger sisters and 1 younger brother. 2 half brothers, 4 step sisters and 1 step brother.
What are their names? Erik, Titus, Emilie, Amanda, Jamie. Boddy & Donny. Brandy, Megan, Brittney, Chanda and Josh.
How old were you when they were born? Hmm...Even if I wasn't adopted, I don't think I could remember that lol.
Do you remember the first time you saw them? No

3. What about your aunts and uncles? Aaron and Linda, Brant and Pam, and Gordon and Debbie. Oh and Hollie and Heather, but they are only a few years older then me so I always thought of them more as cousins then aunts. That's just mom's side, I don't think I ever knew anyone from Dad's side except my grandma.
Did they play an important part in your growing up? Of course they did.
Did your family get together much casualy or did you have to travel to spend time together?Every holiday, alot of birthdays and so many days in between lol. I remember so many matching dresses made by mom and grandma, christmas talent shows, easter egg hunts complete with a whole lotta rotten eggs discovered later, even a vacation in grandma and grandpas motor home.
Life has put a lot of distance between alot of us, but I feel blessed to be here now and able to spend time with my mom and my grandma.

So that's it for tonight since it's 230 already! I will hopefully have a finished project to show you tomorrow. Some days are just so non-stop around here...and our shop hop starts Wednesday which I am so excited about!!! 4 generations shop hopping this year, should be so much fun!

I was going to post this earlier...but I fell asleep on the couch lol. So I chose to go with the red (cuz my mom told me to!), and I like it :)
I was going to mail it to my grandma, but I'm going down there tomorrow so maybe I'll just give it to her instead. I'm too impatient lol

Tuesday already??! ...and a stitchery gift for my Grandma!

Wow...feels like I lost a day somewhere lol! I didn't get to blog this weekend...didn't get my craft day either :( We've just been bouncing from one place to another!
Saturday was my nephews birthday party, and me being so scatterbrained, forgot my camera. They had the party out at long lake so the kids could all play in the water. Beautiful weather, and a jet ski made for a fun day! At first Kristina wouldn't get on the jet ski...she was afraid of Uncle Brian's crazy driving lol. But she finally went with Aunt Brandy and she loved it! It was so nice to visit with everyone since I haven't seen most of them in 4 years. Fun day!
Sunday I was going to run out and pick up some batting and a few other things I needed so I could finish a bunch of projects...but
not so much.
Sunday was my hubbys 30th birthday and also our 9 year anniversary. And sadly he spent it in Florida by himself :( So I spent the morning on the phone with family wishing us a happy day (as happy as it could be anyways), and then dad in law called and invited us over for ribs. Now who could pass that up?! I jumped on that when I realized I wouldn't have to cook lol. So we spent the evening in Port Orchard. At least it distracted me from feeling sorry for myself!

So...yeah didn't get much done over the weekend, but I stitched up the cutest patriotic stitchery and decided since my Grandma really liked the pattern ~ I would make it for her. She's so sweet and I wanted to make her a gift! It is almost done...I just need to choose between the red and the green homespun. Been looking at it all day and still haven't decided! Hopefully I'll choose and get it put together tonight, and it will be turn into a darling wall hanging :)
Now I could drive the 15 minutes down to her house and hand it to her, but I thought it would be more fun to send it in the mail. Who doesn't love getting presents in the mail?!
I hope she likes it!

Awesome thrift store finds!

Evening everyone! First I'd just like to tell you that http://farmhouseprimitives.blogspot.com/ is having this awesome giveaway....you should check it out!! She has some really great things in there.

Here's my pile of TS goodies for today! I get so excited lol. I got these 4 baskets for about $2 each. I love them, and you can never have too many baskets right?!

I also found these best friend shelf sitter annies. They were just too cute to resist. And all the primitive stars are just awesome with the rusty stars and bells attached. Got 3 big ones and a bunch of little ones, and the believe pillow in a bag for $5! YAY me!!

This last picture I posted mainly for my mom. I came home the other day from a little shop in Poulsbo that we love, and couldn't stop going on about how much I adored my new primitive sheep bowl...well its supposed to be a sheep, but sometimes I think its a cow lol. Anyways here it is on a shelf so I can smile at it everytime I walk past! Super cute isn't it mom?!! We'll go get you one if you love it :)

I didn't really finish any projects today to show you...I think I have too many going at once. I need a SUPER craft day lol. Hopefully I will get some done this weekend so I can share!

Another of my new found loves....cute fat little BIRDIES!! I found this adorable little pattern over at Cinderberry Stitches. Her stuff is just too cute! I'm gonna stitch this up tonight...can't wait!!!!

Anyways...that's what I'm working on these last few days, and I wanted to share my excitement lol! More coming soon as the projects get completed!

Sometimes it's the little things...

Today is one of those days. We all have them. Days where it seems like you can't take the weight of one more thing. Whether you're religious or not, everyone has faith in something...everyone needs something to believe in. I believe that having something to believe in makes us better equipped to deal with everyday life. I grew up in the mormon church, and although I have spent the last few years inactive, I still hold onto my faith. My belief that god, in his infinite wisdom, has a plan for me. My life is not tragic, there are many people that are far worse off then I am. But there are times when all the little things turn into something huge and heavy. I am for the most part an optimist. A few bumps in the road are rarely something I can't handle because I believe that things will work out as they were meant to. For some reason my heart chose today to reach it's breaking point. God really can't expect me to sort through it all, right? Ha ha. I just keep telling myself that there is a plan. Even if I don't have a clue....someone does.
Well, the point of my midnight rant is this....
There are people in your life, people around you who need you. You may not be able to readily see it because they have not suffered any great tragedy. They suffer mostly in silence. Not wanting to burden others. Reach out to one of them today. Even if it's just to offer a smile, or a hug, or even an offer to just listen. With just one kind act, you will help to ease the weight of all the little things. Bring a little sunshine to someones day...and ever the optimist...it will make your day too!

Primitive kisses from my mom...isn't she sweet!!

Isn't this the most awesome bench?!! My mom met a guy that makes furniture and things out of old wood and she bought this bench (with good intentions to use it!) but sadly she didn't have a good spot to put it. :( I told her that I had a WONDERFUL spot for it, and she could come visit it whenever she wanted hehe. Don't know if you can tell, but it's adorably primitive with all it's chippy paint and rusted star! I am sooooooo happy with it. And my mom is really sweet to give it to me! Now I just need to find a bunch of cute stuff to display on it.

I went to our local TS/consignment shop yesterday and found this cutest primitve bunny made by Honey and Me. Isn't he amazing?! It was only $5 and I couldn't resist him! He's resting comfortably on my new prim bench!

She also gave me this frame...sorry about the really bad picture. :( The blue on it is lighter then the pic and the frame is all faded and worn and lovely! I plan on stitching up this cute americana stitchery and puting it in the frame!

I had wanted to join Whatcha Workin on Wednesday to show this off yesterday but mr. linky isn't feeling so linky right now, and since i'm new to blogging...well ya know.

So...this is my completed shabby BOM from Jenny. She is so talented and very sweet to share these patterns with us. I chose to leave the word off this block and I'm going to add a couple of fabric borders and then frame it. This particular block I actually made for the wall. I am working on them as quilt blocks also.

I really love how Leslie chose to use her daughters name on a block...so cute and personal! I love reading her blog, it's one of my favorites!

Okay, well I'm off to finish making dinner...too bad it won't make itself hehe
